The first week after a crash
- See a doctor, even if you feel fine. Some injuries surface days later, and an early medical record is among the most important documents in your case.
- Do not give the other insurer a recorded statement. You are required to notify your own insurer, but you are not required to explain anything to the other driver’s. Politely decline and provide our number.
- Keep everything. Keep the photographs, the police report number, the names of witnesses, the tow receipt and the urgent care paperwork.
- Call now. The consultation is free, and there is no legal fee unless we recover money for you; case costs and expenses remain your responsibility.
Common questions
How long do I have to file an injury claim in Georgia?
Generally two years from the date of the injury under Georgia law, with shorter notice deadlines if a government vehicle or agency is involved. Waiting also lets evidence disappear, so earlier is better than later.
What does a personal injury lawyer cost?
Nothing up front. Injury cases at Delfunt Law are handled on a contingency fee, which means the legal fee is a percentage of what we recover for you, and if we recover nothing you owe no legal fee. Case costs and expenses remain your responsibility.
The insurance company already made an offer. Should I take it?
Not before someone who tries cases has read your medical records. Early offers are priced for people without lawyers. We will tell you honestly if the offer is fair.
